Professional Photographers of America "PPA" Convention - blog ONE

I am still on Blog one. It is still day one or two from my trip; i consider this day one due to all the amazing things that have happened to me today. First, I am experiencing one of the most important conventions for photographers in the world; second, I just signed up as a volunteer and found out that I am to assist the "MASTER PHOTOGRAPHERS" during their classes.

I "Darling" am blogging from PPA Convention - yay!!! I AM A VOLUNTEER

It is still "day one" for me here at PPA (Professional Photographers of America) Imaging USA. Those who know me know that it doesn't take long for me to get into some kind of shenanigans. Well, this time was no different. Check this out. Here I am in Nashville, TN minding my own business; thinking if I would get bored after walking around the EXPO, and pondering about all the FREE time I was going to have, and if I was going to get to talk to some of the "STAR" PHOTOGRAPHERS COMING to teach; when a door opens and now "I am a Volunteer".

Ladies and Gentleman, I am Darling - a Volunteer for the PPA Convention here in Nashville, TN -One of the most important conventions for photographers in the world with MORE THAN 10,000 confirmed photographers in assistance - including myself OF COURSE. You are probably asking yourselves - what does a volunteer do? Well, as a volunteer I am going to be assisting some of the photographer speakers. Not just any photographer speaker but "THE BEST OF THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHER SPEAKERS IN THE FREAKING WORLD".

I will be spending my precious time not only learning, networking, but assisting my IDOLS.... You are probably thinking - how did Darling get into this mess? Let me tell you that IT WASN'T HARD!!! I met a beautiful girl and awesome photographer named Renee (from California) who mentioned that there could be openings for me as a volunteer - and that's how it all started. I now own Three ORANGE shirts that say Volunteer on it, and also have access - FULL ACCESS TO THE WHOLE CONVENTION NOT ONLY THE EXPO. Is that cool or What?

Hi all,

First of all, let me tell how excited I am to be here. Here? you might ask - well - I am in Nashville, Tennesse. Yep, Nashville Tenesse. I am here for the Professional Photographers of America convention - Imaging USA. I had planned the trip a few months ago, but as you may know things happen, and I had decided to cancel my trip UNTIL last night. A very sweet lady and an even better photographer "Elena" contacted me, and here I am. Booked my flight, and room at 1:00 am this morning, got on the first plane out, got here at 9:02 am, and here I am in my room trying to blog- YAY!!!

The PPA convention is being held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention (headquarters) this year and let me tell you - it is awesome! IT IS COLD! I am not going to lie, and my room is not warm; I am actually freezing but let me not tell you about that. Let me tell you instead why I am here. I am here 'cause "this is the place to be" if you are a professional photographer and/or want to be one. There are going to be many classes throughout this week. All the classes concentrate in of course Photography. But the best part is that I get to see all my photographer friends..... YAY!!! Among the many amazing and Master photographers I will be meeting during this week are - my idol - Jerry Ghionis (yay), my other idol- Yervant (yay), Elena Hernandez (yay), I already saw Mr. Rodney Bailey himself (awesome guy), and many many more.

This is the first time away from home without my other half, so I will be blogging a lot. Come back to check out all my adventures. See you soon.... PPA here I come.....

Darling is away for a few days she is attending the Imaging USA 2010 Expo in Nashville Tennessee. She will probably be meeting some of her favorite photographers including Yervant and Jerry Ghionis. I could not attend as I am doing a photoshoot today.

Hair, Make-up and a Photo shoot!!!

My apologies for the delayed post. I have been working on a dream project for a very good friend and amazing hair and make-up stylist "Gabby Medina".

Gabby asked us to work on her portfolio a few months back but as we know; this type of project take time. We had to make lots and lots of decisions, which included a list o models to invite, the different hair and make-up, clothing, accessories (the fun part), days we were able to do it, and the times. Gabby and I have been blessed to know many of our models as clients, and as subjects for many of our past projects. Here are some of the images we have taken of these beautiful girls - one word "AMAZING" - THANK YOU - to all the beautiful models that participated in this project. Thank you, Thank you, for your time, patience, and your positive attitude. This project wouldn't be what it is without YOU.

We have been extremely busy with a current project, we have so many great images and I want to freshen up the blog as we progress through the editing process. Here I am sharing a pic of one of our male models. This guy was a photographer's dream full of ideas and with a cool wardrobe.
